A murder of a family happens in a farmhouse in the United States. The mother and younger sister are cruelly killed. The older brother, suspected as the murderer, is imprisoned. The only survivor, a girl, lives on the money donated to her. Now, she's grown up and is no longer able to get sympathy and her income is cut off. She has tried to forget the incident but she didn't know anything else. Finally, she gets invited to a private research group that studies murder cases, to make money. In the process, she is forced to look back on the past. The movie is based on the novel written by Gillian Flynn, the author of Gone Girl (original title). You can see another side of Charlize Theron, showing insane acting.         

10 Cloverfield Lane (2016)

It is a well-made, closed-space thriller. It starts with a disaster + horror movie feel, but actually there is a huge twist hidden.
The woman fights with a man and runs away from home, getting into a car accident. When she wakes up, she's in an underground bunker... and there's John Goodman. It's a cliche setting, but it's really surprising. It feels like a side story of the movie Cloverfield, but it boasts insane quality even if you see it as an independent film. Watch how this smart and small woman deals with the situation.  

The Double: A Sweet Nightmare (2013)

A beautiful-looking doppelganger thriller, but it makes you feel uncomfortable the whole time. ㅋㅋㅋㅋ 'Jesse', a shy man, has a crush on a woman named 'Mia'. Suddenly, another 'Jesse' who looks exactly like him but is incomparably more charming appears and tries to take Mia away. I thought it was inspired by Kafka or Dostoevsky, but it turns out that Dostoevsky was the original author.  

The Killing of a Sacred Deer (2017)

Another uncomfortable thriller. It is a film that pays considerable attention to mise-en-scène. To sum up the film in one sentence, it would be 'There is a boy who hangs around our family in an unpleasant way.' The boy suddenly curses the protagonist's family, and the curse comes true unexpectedly, gradually turning it into a thriller. It reminds you of the atmosphere of the film 'The Shining', and also reminds you of Park Chan-wook's film.      

The Girl on the Train (2017)

This is a Netflix original film. It should be called a sci-fi action thriller. The film takes place in a terrifying near future where you can only raise one child and any more than that will be taken away and raised by the state (whether they are raised or killed is unknown, in fact, their fate is unknown). But one family has seven twins. Since they have seven twins, they lie saying they only had one baby and name the sisters after days of the week: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday. When they need to go out, they take turns going out on the corresponding day. But one day, 'Monday' disappears and the story takes a turn for the worse. It's worth seeing Noomi Rapace's performance, who successfully played all seven roles.      

Planet Virus (2013)

A Martian zombie thriller. It is a novel attempt to combine zombies and outer space, but it seems to have failed miserably. The original title was Last Days on Mars, but it didn't sell well. So they even changed the original title. There were no familiar actors, but it turned out to be an Irish film. It wasn't directed by a famous director, but it is a hidden masterpiece.    

Maze Runner (2014)

A story about boys who are stranded and escape. Come to think of it, it's kind of like Lord of the Flies. A lot of boys with amnesia are trapped in a maze. It's a maze, but it's outdoors and there's even space for farming. The barrier is 100 meters high so they can't climb it. Also, the outside of the maze changes every day and is guarded by strange monsters. One day, the protagonist boy falls into the maze and while he's figuring out what's going on, a girl also falls into the maze. Along with a note from the administrators, 'There won't be anyone else coming in from now on'... The boys who don't want to live in the maze anymore band together to escape.
